Edith Burk, 80, of
Southfield, died Oct. 14.
Mrs. Burk was a secretary
for Communal Organizations,
past president of the
o American Jewish Congress,
member of the National
Council of Jewish Women, the
sisterhood of Adat Shalom
Synagogue. She was the
former secretary of Rabbi
Segal and was secretary at
Jewish Family Services.
Mrs. Burk leaves her
daughter and son-in-law,
Sheila and Eliot Charlip of
West Bloomfield; sisters and
brother-in-law, Frances and
Jack Green of Portland,
Ore., Hariete Slabeck of
Southfield; five grand-
children.

A. Howard Bloch, 79, of Or-
tonville, died Oct. 14.
Mr. Bloch was president of
Bloch Bros. Land Develop-
ment Corp. in Waterford.
Mr. Bloch was the recipient
of the Golden Torah Award of
Yeshiva Beth Yehudah. He
also was a supporter of
Lubavitch of Michigan, and a
member of Temple Beth El.
He leaves his wife Pauline;
sons and daughters-in-law,
Ivan and Linda of Birm-
ingham, Stuart and Am-
bassador Julia Chang of
Washington, D.C., Harry
"Sonny" and Mary Lou of
Tempa, Fla.; daughter and
son-in-law, Harriett and
Sheldon Fuller of Birm-
ingham; nine grandchildren;
three great-grandchildren.
Beckie Ratner,
Volunteer
Beckie Ratner, 95, of West
Bloomfield, died Oct. 11.
Mrs. Ratner was a member
of the Berditchever Aid Socie-
ty, the Warsaw Club, Women's
American ORT and the
Golden Circle and Cultural
Club at the Jewish Communi-
ty Center.
She leaves her daughters
and sons-in-law, Mollie and
Lew Nucian of West Bloom-
field, Blanche and Harry
Gantz of Pembroke Pines,
Fla.; nine grandchildren;
seven great-grandchildren.
Robert Hirschbein,
Bonds Honoree
Robert Hirschbein, 74, of
Southfield, died Oct. 10.
Mr. Hirschbein was in sales
with Benz Glass Co. He was
a member of Congregation
B'nai Moshe, where he was a
past president, a B'nai Moshe
Men's Club member, and co-
chairman of the building com-
mittee. He was also a member
of B'nai B'rith Detroit Lodge
and honored by Israel Bonds.
He leaves his wife, Dorothy;
son and daughter-in-law, Ber-
nard Hirschbein and Wendy
Bashkopf of San Francisco;
daughter and son-in-law, Gail
and Robert Parrish of Farm-
ington Hills; stepchildren,
Barbara and David Weiss and
Norman and Diane Lynn; 12
grandchildren.

William Levin, 80, of
Sunrise, Fla., formerly of
Detroit, died Oct. 13.
Mr. Levin was an attorney,
executive secretary for the
Zoning Appeal Board of
Detroit, a member of Cong.
Shaarey Zedek, the Shriners,
B'nai B'rith and the Jewish
National Fund.
He leaves his wife, Della;
daughters and sons-in-law,
Ruth and Michael Sklar of
Chicago, Judith and Phillip
Davis of West Bloomfield; son
Mark Levin of Washington;
eight grandchildren. Inter-

Company President
Morton I. Silberg, 69, of
Southfield, died Oct. 15.
Mr. Silbert was a former of-
fice manager for the Ira Kauf-
man Chapel. He was founder
and president of Memorial In-
formation Systems and a
member of Temple Israel.
He leaves his sons and
daughter-in-law, Steven and
Penny of Morristown, Ariz.,
Michael and Robert, both of
Southfield; daughter, Frances
Russell of Lansing; sister,
Marjorie Neafach of Ken-
more, N.Y.; one grandson.

Beatrice E. Shulman, 69, of
Farmington Hills, died Oct.

Mrs. Shulman was a self-
employed artist, known for
her work with textiles and
needle work.
She leaves her husband,
Harry; sons and daughter-in-
law, Dr. Marvin and Marci,
Stuart of Waterford; daughter
and son-in-law, Deborah and
Harry Holzer of East Lans-
ing; brother and sister-in-law,
Morris and Rhoda Fox of
Rockaway, N.J.; sister and

Sanders Hertzberg; nine
grandchildren.
