Print Collection
Master prints of five cen-
turies from the collection of
Alan and Marianne Schwartz
will be shown at the Detroit
Institute of Arts from Oct. 14
through Jan. 6, 1991.
This exhibition will be a
selection of nearly 200 master
prints from the 15th century
to 1950, with examples of all
the major printmaking
techniques: woodcut, engrav-
ing, etching and lithography.
Mr. and Mrs. Schwartz have
a long association with the
Detroit Institute of Arts. This
exhibition celebrates the 10th
anniversary of the establish-
ment of the DIA's Schwartz
Graphic Arts Galleries, made
possible by their gift.
A symposium centered
around painter-printmakers
of the late 19th and early
20th centuries will be Oct. 13.
Speakers include: Clinton
Adams of the Tamarind In-
stitute, Albuquerque, N.M.;
Thomas B. Bruhn, curator of

Benton Museum of Art,
Storrs, Conn.; Ruth Fine,

and Drawings, National
Gallery of Art, Washington,
D.C.; Pat Gilmour, writer, lec-
