him that I've grown to love Judaism,"
said Ms. Berritt. She views the temple
as an important gathering place for her
family. Ms. Berritt and her father are in
the temple choir, and her father has
substituted for the cantor. During her
adolescence, she was president of her
confirmation class and had the
opportunity to participate in a religious
weekend retreat.
After high school graduation, she
entered the University of Michigan, her
father's alma mater. She majored in
Spanish and took cognate courses in
communications. In a radio and
television course, she was asked to
produce a short video, which she
enjoyed. When she was a junior, she
interned as an asssistant program
director at a New Jersey radio station.
In her senior year, Ms. Berritt met Ron
Senkowski, a film teacher, director and
writer.
Ms. Berritt then worked on Mr.
Senkowski's film One In A Silent House
and continued to work with him,
producing Forever My Dog. Forever My
Dog, is about a family who puts their
pet to sleep. This movie was at the
Maple Theater in Birmingham and is
now distributed in Europe. Ms. Barritt
negotiated with some Michigan school
systems to purchase the film. "It's doing
well in the classroom and gets the kids
to talk about their loss," said Ms.
Berritt.
Ms. Berritt just completed working
as an associate producer on the movie
Let's Kill All The Lawyers and is busy
with pre-production on her next project,
about a soldier's letters from Vietnam.
She volunteers on the Hunger
Project, a national group focusing on
worldwide hunger problems. "I want
people to be aware of the problems other
people face. I fast one day a month."

HOBBIES: Travel, car rides and going to
film festivals.

LATEST ACCOMPLISHMENT: "Completing
production of Let's Kill All the Lawyers."

BACKGROUND: Shannon Berritt lived in
Brooklyn until age five. Her family then
moved to New Jersey where she began
her formal education. Her parents are
active in their synagogue, Temple
Shaari Emeth, in Englishtown, N.J.
