The Kolan Group

Vocalists, Musicians
At Balfour Concert

Yehoram Gaon, and the
Kolan ensemble, Russian-
Jewish vocalists and musi-
cians, will headline the
musical program of the 57th
annual Balfour Celebration
and Concert Nov. 4 at the
Masonic Temple auditorium.
Mr. Gaon starred in Israel's
longest-running hit musical
Kazablan and portrayed
Jonathan Netanyahu, hero of
the Entebbe rescue-operation,
in Menachem Golan's film
Operation Thunderbolt. He
produced 27 "gold" albums,
his latest, Landmarks, is a
best-seller in Israel.
The Kolan group is compos-
ed of five soloists and in-
strumentalists. Also appear-
ing will be Yelena Levin-
skaya, a former soloist with
the Baku Philharmonic and
the Minsk opera. The only
sabra in the group is its
leader Avi Shilo, a member of
Israel's Camery Theatre.

Justice Louis D. Brandeis
award to Sidney Silverman,
the first Detroiter to be
elected national president of
the Zionist Organization of
America.

master's graduate of Wayne
State University. He is cur-
rently appearing in
Repossessed with Leslie
Nielsen and Linda Blair, Tak-
ing Care of Business with
Charles Grodin and Jim
Belushi, and on Fox Net-
work's "I'm Home" with An-
drea Martin.
Ticket cost includes a cash
bar and afterglow party. The
proceeds will go towards
funds to help Kadima con-
tinue to assist and provide
housing for the Detroit
Jewish community's mental-
ly ill.
