round us. Mentioning the
word "Holocaust," remember
that one-third of the Jewish
people were exterminated in
gas chambers, etc., in the
Holocaust of the 1940s.
Peace lovers should be
grateful and apologize to
Israel for eliminating the
nuclear infrastructure of
Saadam Hussein of Iraq in
1981. At least for now the
Middle East is safe from a
nuclear Holocaust. Instead,
peace activists should con-
demn Iraq for her chemical-
biological weapons threaten-
ing to destroy one-half of
Israel. Imagine, Israeli Arabs
did not denounce Iraq for
such cruel behavior, although
they, the PLO and the Arabs
in Yehuda, Shomron and
Gaza will also be victims of
Saadam's chemical-biological
attack. Nevertheless they
cheered their "savior."
Israel is an easy and a good
target when the peace groups
need a cover-up of the real
demons: what Iraq did and
would not stop to do again .. .
We have yet to hear from
the peace activists criticizing
the Arab countries for refus-
ing to sit with Israel at the
same table and negotiate.
Peace lovers should voice
their indignation against
PLO killers of Jews and their
own Arabs .. .

Adat Shalom Offers
Sukkah Building Advice
PHIL JACOBS
Assistant Editor
I
t was the first time that
any of the 20 people in at-
tendance at the Adat
Shalom sukkah-building
workshop had ever seen a
sukkah put together in
under 20 minutes. But for
some, it was also the first
time they had ever seen
anyone build a sukkah.
That was the point of last
Tuesday evening's
workshop. It gave first-
timers a chance to see a
sukkah actually being con-
structed. For veteran
builders it was an opportuni-
ty to share ideas and ask
questions before they hauled
out the panels and poles.
"This is the first year
we've done this," organizer
Sid Feldman said. "We
wanted to impart the knowl-
edge that we had from years
of building sukkahs. It's not
just the satisfaction of
building a sukkah, but it's
the wonderful feeling of
Yiddishkeit one gets from
actually building the
sukkah. It's a feeling that I
think all Jews need to feel."
The workshop also offered
basic construction plans and
material lists to those that
wanted. There was also a
free exchange of ideas on
decorations.
Dennis Yashinsky, a
Farmington Hills builder,
who brought in construction
workers to demonstrate the
quick assemblage of a
sukkah, emphasized to the
audience that building a
sukkah was an important
Jewish family tradition that
did not have to be com-
plicated.
"Listen, I don't think
anybody could build a
sukkah this quickly unless
you had four construction
workers like we had here put
it together," Mr. Yashinsky
said. "But the point is, the
actual putting together of
the sukkah should not be the
reason why a person
wouldn't build a sukkah. A
simple, well-thought-out
sukkah can be constructed
in about two hours.
