Olim Absorption
Goes Well

Tel Aviv (JTA) — Olim
from the Soviet Union are
pleased with their reception
in Israel and with their life
here so far, according to a
> poll conducted among 600
recent arrivals living in 31
towns all over the country,
Ma' ariv reported.
The poll found 96 percent
of the respondents were
satisfied with the attitudes
displayed toward them by
' veteran Israelis.
They are very pleased with
their progress in learning
the Hebrew language and
with the assistance they
receive from immigrant
organizations.
But 80 percent said they
received no assistance from
volunteer immigrant organ-
izations or from organiza-
tions of former Soviet immi-
grants during their first
week in Israel.
The poll, conducted by the
Masorti Movement for Con-
servative Judaism, found
that 72 percent of the olim
described themselves as
secular, 25 percent a$ tradi-
tionally religious, two per-
cent Orthodox and one per-
cent ultra-Orthodox.
