groom is the son of Mr. and

Orthodox Council
Hosts Berel Wein

The Council of Orthodox
Rabbis will convene its an-
nual assembly on the topic of
repentence 8 p.m. Sept. 25 at
Congregation Dovid Ben
Nuchim.
The speaker will be Rabbi
Berel Wein of Monsey, N.Y.
Rabbi Wein is a graduate of
the Hebrew Theological Col-
lege in Skokie, Ill. and receiv-
ed his rabbinical ordination
in 1955. He is a graduate of
Roosevelt College of Chicago,
where he received a B.A.
degree, of De Paul University
of Chicago from which he
received a Juris Doctor
degree, and from the graduate
school of Hebrew Theological
College, where he earned the
D.H.L. (Doctor of Hebrew
Letters).
In 1962, Rabbi Wein assum-
ed the pulpit of Beth Israel
Congregation in Miami
Beach, Fla. In 1972, he was
appointed executive vice
president of the Union of Or-
thodox Congregations of

America and became Rab-
binic Administrator of the
Kashrut Division of the
Union of Orthodox Congrega-
tions of America.
