Memorial Exhibit
In Prague

Prague (JTA) — "The
Courage to Remember," a
traveling Holocaust
memorial exhibition of the
Los Angeles-based Simon
Wiesenthal Center, opened
last week at the former
Klaus Synagogue here.
The presentation is to
teach people to have the
courage to remember and
the will to make impossible
the repetition of racial, eth-
nic and religious hatred, the
organizers said.
The display of
photographs, pictures and
documents was prepared
jointly by the Wiesenthal
Center, the Prague Jewish
Museum and the Czech
Society of Jewish Culture.
Speakers at the opening
ceremony stressed that a
year ago no institution in
Czechoslovakia would have
been allowed to cooperate
with the Wiesenthal Center
in mounting such an exhibit.
They pointed out that this
is the first opportunity to ac-
quaint the young generation
in this country with what
happened during the Nazi
period.
Until now, the extermina-
tion of whole communities,
the murders of nearly 80,000
Czechs and over 100,000
Jews from Slovakia was con-
cealed from students,
readers and listeners.
The only complaint heard
about the exhibit was the
absence of captions in the
Czech language which would
have made the English text
more understandable to
schoolchildren.

Helicopters
Arrive In Israel

Tel Aviv (JTA) — The first
two of 18 U.S.-built Apache
assault helicopters purchas-
ed by Israel were officially
presented to the Israel
Defense Force on Wednes-
day during a ceremony at an
unidentified air force base.
U.S. Ambassador William
Brown took part in the
ceremony and promised the
United States would be
sending Israel additional
military equipment in the
coming months.
The sophisticated
helicopters arrived here
disassembled Monday night
in jumbo jet air freighters.
They were put together by a
special air crew in prepara-
tion for the ceremony the
following day.
The remaining helicopters
will be delivered over the
next six months.

May the coming year be
one filled with health,
happiness and
prosperity for all our
friends and family.
