tunately, now the leader of

Bush, recognizing the

The United States, with
whom we have an agree-
ment of strategic coopera-
tion, has our full understan-
ding and support, and its
leaders understand our in-
terest and concerns; of
course, we are taking all
measures necessary to deter
aggression against Israel, to
protect our borders and to
defend our population.
Saddam Hussein is no new
phenomenon for us. We con-
fronted his aggressive ambi-
tions nine years ago when he
was at the point of achieving
nuclear capability. Today,
