hen it comes to golf
championships,
Mitchell Wayne,
Linda Tucker and Doug Kay
agree on one thing: they like
to keep them.
They demonstrated that
this summer as all three re-
peated as championship
flight title-holders — Wayne
and Tucker at Tam
O'Shanter Country Club and
Kay at Knollwood.
Wayne, who last year
regained the title he had
first won at Tam in 1987,
tightened his grip on the
crown with a 5 and 4 victory
over Roger Fenton during
the Labor Day weekend.
Fenton won the club tennis
championship at Tam in
1989, but has yet to win a
golf title.
Tucker, meanwhile, held
off challenger Nance Eps-
tein, 3 and 2, to repeat as
Tam's women's champion.
Tucker, who first won the
title in 1989, is a veteran of
six years' golfing. Epstein
was appearing in her first
championship final.
Both the men's and wo-
men's tournaments were 36-
hole match-play.
At Knollwood Country
Club, Kay defeated Allan
Rein, 2-up, to remain men's
championship flight titlist.
He was joined by Beth
Ruskin, who defeated Adria

Aronovitz in a stroke-play
tournament to win her first
women's championship
flight crown.
