Bournias, of Cocktails, notices that
red is a dominant color in the store
for fall. "Of course black is popular,
but we have some vibrant reds and
oranges," she adds.
Cocktails will be highlighting
designer Raul Blanco with some
dressy suits with feathers. Other
dramatic Blanco designs have floral
prints brocades or feather detailing.
The peplum style is still invogue, but
the peplum for 1990 is subtle.
"There's an emphasis on jackets
and shawls this season. The shawl
with a beaded jacket is poular," note
Bounias. Many of the suits this fall will
have longer jackets. She adds that the
jackets look great with evening gowns
and cocktail suits.

designers run the gambit from Becky
Bisoulis, a master in lace designs to
Bob Mackie, the designer of the stars,
to the drama of Scassi.
"All of the jewel tones are popular
— ruby, turquoise, sapphire and
bronze," says Anne Frank of Roz &
Sherm. Frank adds that black is
always in style and strappless dresses
are a staple at the store.
Some of the dramatic dresses she
descries include a turquoise
iridescent in taffeta and ruby gown
with a jacket.At Roz & Sherm many
of the dresses have a combination of
two or three textures.
"There is a major amount of velvet,
this season," she emphasizes.
According to Frank, velvet is
sometimes mixed with sequins and
satins.
Frank notes that there will be an
exclusive label this season for dress
clothes. Customers will be able to
custom make two and three piece
outfits with jackets, skirts and bustiers.
"It's perfect for all ages and all
figures.
