Frances Patiky Stein also has a line
of accessories perfect for evening af-
fairs. Her collection includes bags,
leathers, jewels, hats and scarves.
Many are perfect for travel.
Her handbags have satin and nap-
pa drawstring bags. Some of the bags
have gold and gauze bows. The silk
and satin bags are in iridescent
shades of umber, emerald and
fuchsia.
Stein's jewelry collection features
colored glass stones. Some of the
stones are twisted with gold wire for
a sparkling effect. Venetian glass
stones and bronzed glass beads are
highlighted. The bracelets and cuffs
are studded with stones. The pins
have large jewels for extra drama.
If the evening jacket is not in your
wardrobe, a beautiful brocade shawl
accents a monochromatic dress.
Fabrics of red flowers are tapunto-
stitched with gold thread in jewel
tones.

Colorful faux jewelry enhance the
opulent look. The jewels are turning
up as a major detail, and in some
cases from Oscar de la Renta to
Adolfo, an overall theme in cocktail
dresses.
Here's what local shops will be
featuring for fall:
Sherri Joseff of Sherri's in
Farmington Hills notes that sexy,
strapless dresses are in vogue.
"Strapless is always in, but this season
there is also the slinky dress with thin
straps," says Joseff. She adds that the
emphasis is on the figure with dresses
accentuating the waistline.

Sherri's will be showing many
dramatic dresses in black and gold
and the beaded dresses are still
available in simple and extravagant
styles. "As always the black dresses
are the biggest," she states.
Dressy suits are big in many styles.
There are beading on jackets,
rhinestone buttons, fringe and even
paisley designs. "We've got it all, and
we have a fabulous selection," says
Joseff.
At Cocktail's in West Bloomfield the
ethnic look is strong. "We are showing
some Mediterranean dresses with
black and gold beading. The warm
colors are strong," says Connie
Bournias.

Louis Dell'Olio,
designing for
Anne Klein, shows
simple, long-
sleeve sheaths.
For day, he does
them in lersey.
For night, they
are in velvet and
