'Chorus Line'

The Jewish Community
Center and Nancy Gurwin
productions will present the
musical A Chorus Line,
directed and choreographed
by Michael Pilon with
Rochelle Barr as music
director.
The show will open 8:30
p.m. Sept. 8 at the Maple-
Drake Jewish Community
Center. The musical will con-
tinue 7:30 p.m. Sept. 9, 8:30
p.m. Sept. 15, 2 and 7 p.m.
Sept. 16, 8:30 p.m. Sept. 22
with the final show 2 p.m.

Orchestra Hall
Opens Season

Detroit Symphony Or-
chestra Hall will open its
1990-91 season with a week of
events, concluding with
DSOH's annual Salute to
Paradise Theatre on Sept. 15.
Originally built in 1919 as
the home of the Detroit Sym-
phony Orchestra, Orchestra
Hall has now been restored.
To celebrate Symphony
Week, Detroit Symphony Or-
chestra will give two free lun-
chtime and rush-hour con-
certs and its annual Salute to
Paradise Theatre concert.
This year's salute will pay
tribute to DSOH's jazz era
with performances by the
Duke Ellington Orchestra
with Mercer Ellington, vocal-
ist Betty Carter and Detroit's
Three Sixes. All concerts will
be conducted by DSO's
associate conductor, Leslie
Dunner.

Photography Talk

The Southfield Public
Library will sponsor a pro-
gram titled "The Working
Camera — Photographing
People" featuring photo-
grapher Jay Asquini 7 p.m.
Sept. 11 at the library.
Mr. Asquini operates a
photographic studio in
Livonia specializing in com-
mercial/industrial work. His
photographs appear in an-
nual reports, advertising and
business magazines. He is
vice president of the
Michigan Chapter of the
American Society of
Magazine Photographers.
