A book club with Adele Silver as facilitator, will start Oct. 1. This book group will meet on the first Monday of every month at 7:30 p.m. The participants will pick a booklist and share reactions. On Oct. 2, Sid Bolkosky will begin his four-week course at the Center on "Is It Good For The Jews?" This class will meet at 9:30 a.m. There is a fee. Dr. N. P. Silverman will start his five-week course on portraits of Jews in America film at 7:30 p.m. Oct. 16. There is a fee. An Evening of Poetry, Wine and Candlelight by Suzi Russek-Osherov will be held at 8 p.m. Oct. 16. There is a fee. A five-week course on Rus- sian Jewish writers in English translation given by Dr. Luba Berton will start at 7:30 p.m. Oct. 18. There is a fee. The "On Camera" class will be offered at the Maple-Drake building. The Jewish Community Center and the Nancy Gur- win Theater Program are starting theater classes for teens grades 7 through 12 at 6:30 p.m. Sept. 5 for eight weeks. Registration For Midrasha Begins Registrations are now being taken for classes at the Midrasha — College of Jewish Studies, a division of the Agency for Jewish Education. Courses include all levels of Hebrew language and literature which begin Sept. 5. Jewish studies courses, which begin Oct. 1, are being offered in Bible, anti- Semitism, Jewish mysticism, Talmud, and current Jewish issues. The Midrasha is offering a Master's level course for master's degree credit entitl- ed, "Selected Readings from Talmudic Literature." TDpics covered include holidays, prayer, matters of civil law and capital punishment. The structure, development and history of Jewish law and lore will be discussed. The course will be taught by Rabbi Rod Glogower, Rabbi of the Hillel Orthodox Union and adjunct lecturer of the University of Michigan. The course will meet at 9:30 a.m. Tuesdays from Sept. 11-Nov. 27 at the United Hebrew Schools building. Co-sponsored courses with synagogues and temples will begin Oct. 1.
