Nancy of Grand Rapids;
daughter and son-in-law, Bar-
bara and Jerry Gorzeck of
Farmington Hills; sister and
brother-in-law, Betty and Ben
Shwedel of Farmington Hills;
nine grandchildren; 10
great-grandchildren.

Nathan I. Goldin,
Builder

charities have extended to
many religious, health, and
social organizations and he
has contributed scholarships
for the education of American
students in Israel.
He is survived by his wife,
Celia; daughter and son-in-
law, Margarita and Gerald
Weinbaum; one grandson;
brothers, Dr. Morris and Nor-
man Goldin.

Charles Isackson,
Engineer

Charles N. Isackson, 74, of
Oak Park, died Aug. 22
Mr. Isackson was an elec-
tronic chemical engineer who
worked on the project to build
the atom bomb and later
worked at Chrysler Corp. He
was the past commander of
the Oak Park Post and State
of Michigan Jewish War
Veterans, past president of
Congregation Beth Shalom
and its men's club.
He leaves his wife, Fay; son
and daughter-in-law, Robert
and Marla of Ft. Lee, N.J.;
daughters and sons-in-law,
Ellen and Dr. Jeffrey Kottler
of Charleston, S.C., Phyllis
and Dr. Jeffrey Meer of Birm-
ingham; brother and sister-
in-law, Ralph and Shirley of
Bay City; four grandchildren.

Dr. Arthur Rich,
Physicist

Nathan I. Goldin

Nathan I. Goldin, 84, of
Bloomfield Hills and Boca
Raton, Fla., died Aug. 26.
In February 1927, Mr.
Goldin graduated from the
Detroit College of Law and
practiced as an attorney un-
til 1939 when, together with
Samuel Hechtman and the
late Jack Silvan, he formed
Practical Home Builders
which evolved into the Prac-
tical Investment Company.
He was instrumental in star-
ting the American Savings
and Loan and Citizen Mor-
tgage Corporations.
A member of Adat Shalom
Synagogue, he was elected a
lifetime trustee and headed
the committee that found the
present site.
His philanthropies have in-
cluded the Jewish Home for
Aged where he served on the
board; Sinai Hospital; Mount
Sinai Hospital in Miami
Beach; the Jewish Theologi-
cal Seminary, which honored
him in 1984; Technion
University of Haifa; Jewish
National Fund; and Kibbutz
Hanaton in Israel, whose
library he initiated.
A scholarship is in his
name at the University of
Detroit Dental School. His

Dr. Arthur Rich, 52, of Ann
Arbor, died Aug. 25.
Dr. Rich taught physics at
the University of Michigan
since 1965. In 1988 he, and
his colleague, invented the
positron microscope, a device
which uses beams of positrons
to produce magnified images
of the microscopic structure of
various materials.
He leaves his wife, Paula;
daughters, Donna of
Washington, D.C., and Mar-
jorie of Ann Arbor; son,
Daniel of Ann Arbor; mother,
Augusta of Ibledo. Interment
Ann Arbor.

Stanley M. Salamon,
Detroit Dentist

Stanley M. Salamon, 90, of
Southfield, died Aug. 17.
Dr. Salamon was born in
Hungary and emigrated to
the United States after World
War I. He received a
bachelor's degree in architec-
tural engineering from the
University of Michigan. He
later earned a degree from
the University of Detroit Col-
lege of Dentistry. He was a
practicing dentist until his
death. Dr. Salamon was also
a member of B'nai B'rith.
He is survived by his wife,
Helen; sons Peter and Robert;
three grandchildren.

During the coming week Yeshiva Beth Yehudah will observe the yahrtzeits of the following departed friends, with
the traditional memorial prayers, recitation of kaddish and studying of mishnayos.
