Seven reasons to shop
House of Watchbands.

Continued from Page 6

I also thank their coaches for
setting such a good example.
The media constantly bom-
bards us with the negative
acts of young people. If Mac-
cabi is representative of our
future generations, we are in
good hands.
Saturday we were asked to
tend bar for the ball at the
Jewish Center. This affair
was planned by the Windsor
committee for the coaches
and their families. The ball
was marvelous. Music by the
Marshall Korby Band had
everyone dancing. They
helped make the party a huge
success.
We were thanked profusely
for our help, but we thank
Maccabi Games for allowing
us to volunteer because we
had such a wonderful time.
For those who did not
volunteer, you missed the
time of your life!

Keep An
Open Mind

Events in the world are
clearly affecting Detroiters.
As co-chairs of the Interfaith
Round Table, we urge all
Metro-Detroiters to be aware
of the potential for prejudicial
statements that will occur in
our daily conversations with
our colleagues or friends.
We may not be able to
create peace in the Middle
East, but we can affect at-
titudes in our own neighbor-
hoods by challenging stereo-
typical jokes or comments
that we hear. Many times the
person speaking does not
even realize his comment
could be steretypical. It's im-
portant to keep our minds
open in every conversation to
help make Detroit a place of
respect for all people.

It's Time To Stop
The Back Stabbing

As an American, I am fed
up with all the back stabbing
we Americans are getting
from both the Jews and the
Arabs. We really should tell
the whole Middle East to go
fly a kite. No one nation has
the right to invade other na-
tions. No nation has the right
to do barbaric acts. No nation
has the right to erase another
from this earth.
We all inhabit this world.
We all have the right to live
on it. Surely, the world has
learned this lesson. We as
Americans should tell the
Israelis to behave themselves.

They aren't the only people on
this earth. Nor are the Arabs.
Bare our bodies for all to
see. See if any of us are really
different. Jewish and Arab.
No Jewish or Arab women
would ever tickle my bare
foot. They wouldn't know how.
Laughing is something that
doesn't exist. They just
believe in violence. They com-
plain too much. Look at the
American Indian. Do they
complain and try to make
everyone do things just for
them? No.
So stop ripping us to peices.
Both sides need us and they
both rip us. That is not the
way to run a world.

Hussein Must Be
Stopped Now

All analogies have their
limitations. There are,
however, significant
similarities between the 1990
and 1939 situations. In both
instances, the democratic
civilized nations found
themselves facing mortal
danger from a tyrant. Hitler,
like Saddam Hussein, became
powerful as the result of his
own ruthlessness and the
complacency and appease-
ment of the democracies. The
obvious signs of danger were
ignored then and now.
In 1939, the democracies
had the power to defeat
Hitler. They chose instead
what has been called a
"phony war," i.e., inactivity.
In 1990, the democracies
have the capacity to bring
Hussein to his knees. This
can be achieved only by
military action, which is
understandably unpopular.
Failure to take military ac-
tion in 1939 cost the civilized
world millions of lives and
nearly resulted in Hitler's
victory. Today, Hussein is
viewed as a formidable
military opponent. If within
two or three years he is not
defeated, he will be
invincible.
Hussein, like Hitler, wields
tremendous power because he
is not constrained by the
norms regulating civilized
behavior. Hitler, unlike Hus-
sein, did not use poison gas in
military operations. There is
little doubt that Hitler and
Hussein would use nuclear
weapons to achieve world
domination.
A mere few years ago Iraq
was close to acquiring atomic
weapons of its own. Decisive
action by Israel has delayed
the inevitable for a few years.
Without the preventive strike
by the Israeli air force,
America would today be fac-
