Welcoming the Archbishop
will be Rabbi Irwin Groner of
Shaarey Zedek, who is newly
elected president of the Rab-
binical Assembly, the na-
tional organization of Conser-
vative rabbis; and Rabbi Nor-
man T. Roman, president of
the Michigan Board of
Rabbis.
The archbishop replaces Ed-
mund Cardinal Szoka, who
was recently assigned to the
Vatican in Rome. Like Car-
dinal Szoka, Archbishop
Maida is of Polish descent. He
comes to Detroit from Green
Bay, Wis., where he served as
bishop.
All are welcome to attend
the reception, however, reser-
vations are required. Those
who call in advance will
receive special reserved

JWF Plans
Annual Meeting

The Jewish Welfare Federa-
tion's 64th annual meeting
will take place 6:30 p.m.
Sept. 25 at Adat Shalom
Synagogue.
Federation president Mark
E. Schlussel will deliver the
annual report. The election
and installation of members
to the JWF Board of Gover-
nors will take place.
Joel D. Tauber will receive
the Fred M. Butzel Memorial
Award for his dedication to
both the Jewish community
and the Detroit community at
large.
