Tamarack Camps will display
the photography and artwork
of their summer campers dur-
ing September and October.
The work will be the entries
to Tamarack Camps summer
art and photo contest open to
all 1990 summer
participants.
The photo entries will be
judged on one of three
themes: Jewish Life — Living
It at Camp; One World —
Ours to Cherish; or Tamarack
Camps — Unforgettable. The
photography will be judged by
Richard Sheinwald,
photographer for the
Associated Press; Alyssa Mar-
tina, publisher of All Kids
Considered; and Glenn Triest
of Glenn Triest Photographic.
The art work will be judg-
ed in three categories:
ceramics, non-ceramic
sculpture or craft and pain-
ting or drawing. The art en-
tries will be judged by Bar-
bara Heller, conservator for
the Detroit Institute of Art;
Raymond Katz, professor of
art, Oakland Community
College; and Joanna Abram-
son, director of Gallery Yakir.
Prizes and ribbons will be
awarded and selected entries
will be featured in The
Jewish News.
The entries will be
displayed at the Maple-Drake
Jewish Community Center,
Sept. 24-30; Jimmy Prentis
Morris Jewish Community
Center, Oct. 1-7; and at
United Hebrew Schools, Oct.
15-21.

Will Speak

Physician and author Ber-
nie Siegel will discuss the
roles of hope, love, spirituali-
ty and unconscious beliefs in
the healing process during
his presentation, "The
Psychology of Illness and the
Art of Healing," at 8 p.m. Aug.
24 at the Southfield Civic
Center Pavilion.
Dr. Siegel's approach is
aimed at the integration of
body, mind and spirit. He is a
pediatric and general surgeon
in New Haven, Conn.

will benefit the Uplands Com-
mons Ecological Awareness
Center, Search for Common
