ody builder Ron Love
visited the West
Bloomfield home of
Marshall and Jody Sack
to visit Marshall's Sunday
morning weight lifting
group. The Sacks' gym was
filled with people inspecting
Ron Love's muscles. Mr.
Love has been featured in
Muscle and Flex magazines
and is one of the top body
builders in the world. This
40-year-old has many titles
including the 1985 Junior
USA Body Builder.
Mr. Love advised the
group, including Bruce
Goldman, Bruce Sack and
Lee Lutz, on how to improve
their body building tech-
niques and on the impor-
tance of a well-balanced diet.
Bruce Goldman, owner of
L'Uomo Vogue men's
clothier, was a contender for
the Mr. Michigan title in
1972.
After the exercises, Jody
Sack prepared a brunch for
the group. Barbecued
chicken, seasoned with
lemon juice and Mrs. Dash,
was the entree along with
plain baked potatoes and
fruit.
When JCC aerobic instruc-
tor Paula Shapiro heard
that Mr. Love would be at
the Sack home, she left the
Jewish Center at once to
learn more tips.

WESTERN SAMMIES
The fraternity Sigma
Alpha Mu (the nickname is
Sammies) is now at Western
Michigan University in
Kalamazoo with 34 mem-
bers. "We are looking for-

ward to a successful
year,"says Todd Carrick,
rush chairman. " When I
was a freshman, I didn't
know anyone who was Jew-
ish at Western. In the last
couple of years, there is an
increasing Jewish popula-
tion," he adds. Some of the
Sammies include: Jeremy
Goldstein, Dan Fishman,
Barrett Zeff and Marc
Pachla.

FLASHBACK
The Detroit Symphony Or-
chestra Hall held a fund-
raising '50s and '60s dance
at the Troy Marriott Hotel
on July 21. Many of the
patrons were forced to dance
the twist and jitterbug in
order to burn calories from
the Coney Island, onion
rings and hamburger menu.
Some of the patrons includ-
ed: Brenda Pangborn,
president-elect of the vol-
unteer council, Michael
Schwartz, Cynthia Scott,
Debbie and Bill Mazer,
Shelley Milin, Gilbert
Borman and Richard
Blumenstein.

HERITAGE BALL
Hope Silverman's home
was the site for the first
committee meeting for the
Heritage Ball. The elegant
Sinai Hospital fund-raising
event will be held on Oct. 17
at the Westin Hotel. The co-
chairs for this year's ball are
Dorothy Gerson, Marjorie
Jospey, Leah Snider and
Guild President Marta
Rosenthal.
Sinai President Robert
Steinberg and Carolyn
Greenberg, chair of the
trustee development com-
mittee, are enthusiastic
