Federation Council) is not

Geller, who recently
replaced the retired Esther
Shapiro as regional director
of the AJCongress, said that
"it is up to the black corn-
munity to make the next
move. Perhaps we (the Con-
gress) will extend an invita-
tion to meet, but the ball is
in their court."
She said that all agreed
that Clegg's charges of Jew-

anti-Semitic, and "should
not be responded to or dig-

Rights Activist
Cites Neo-Nazis

Toronto (JTA) — The
desecration of a Hamilton
synagogue recently was
most likely the work of an
individual involved with a
racist skinhead group,. a
human rights activist says,
and is just the latest indica-
tion of an upsurge in white
supremacist activity in
Canada.
The neo-Nazi slogans and
symbols painted on the Beth
Jacob synagogue July 8 were
the latest of five "severe in-
cidents of this nature" in-
volving Jewish institutions
across Canada since
January, said Lorne Ship-
man, the Ontario director of
the League for Human
Rights of B'nai Brith
Canada.
The desecration came on
the heels of a recent white
supremacist rally in Met-
calfe, Ontario.

Schoenhuber
Is Accused

:7)

Bonn (JTA) — The rift in
the extreme right-wing
Republican Party here
deepened recently as its
newly reinstated leader,
Franz Schoenhuber, traded
charges with dissidents who
walked out of the party con-
vention when he was re-
elected chairman July 8.
Harold Neubauer, who led
the walkout, accused
Schoenhuber of regaining
power by fraud. He said he
would bring charges before
the party's internal court or
in a state court.
Schoenhuber, a former
Waffen SS officer, told
reporters his first task would
be to halt the infiltration of
neo-Nazis into the party.
