The Soviet Jews, listening
with the help of Soviet-born
translators Viad Tsoglina
and Leo Paransky, asked
questions about such things
as tuition and the variety of
subjects taught. Some young
people even asked how they
might get to attend the
school.
The scientific and art ex-
hibits at the Hands-On Mu-
seum also had a special ap-
peal for the visitors, a
number of whom came with
families spanning three

Leonid Smorgonsky, an
automotive engineer in his
20s who came to the United
States from Moscow five
months ago, said, "I never
saw this kind of museum
where science is used for
play. Little children who
come to this museum might
end up being very scientific
adults."1=1

The excursion featured a

natural history museum,
and a visit to the Hands-On
