Britain Gets
First Hebrew
Periodical

London (JTA) — The first
and only Hebrew-language
periodical in Britain hit the
newsstands in northwest
London this week.
Called Hayisraeli Shel
London (The Israeli of Lon-
don), the new glossy is aimed
mainly at the
70,000-member Israeli ex-.
patriate community here
and Israeli visitors.
According to editor Anat
Koren, a London resident for
eight years, it fills a gap for
a group of people which has
only just begun to feel like a
community.
The 80-page first edition
contains articles on building
a business, buying or ren-
ting homes, Prime Minister
Margaret Thatcher, casinos,
football and a lighthearted
look at cricket through
Israeli eyes.
The publishers have yet to
decide whether to produce
the magazine weekly or
monthly. The next edition is
due out in September.

Flu Can Lead
To Suicide

New York (JTA) — The in-
fluenza virus has been found
to increase stress, depression
and aggression in some teen-
agers and adults and can
contribute to mental
breakdowns and suicide.
The dangers of the flu
virus were discovered by a
team of researchers at the
Hadassah University
Hospital in Jerusalem. The
team was led by Professor
Avraham Morag, head of the
clinical virology unit and Dr.
Zecharia Zakai Rones.
The researchers found a
connection between the 1985
flu outbreak and the in-
crease of visits by teen-agers
to psychiatric clinics. The
study encompassed 505
high-school students aged 15
to 18, half of whom had in-
fluenza.
