Council of the Detroit Institute of Arts, Hud- son's and Northwest Airlines will join forces for the 21st Fash Bash to be held on Aug. 14 at the Fox Theatre. The Fash Bash press party at DuMouchelles July 11 unveiled the ex- citing Aug. 14 schedule. The fund-raising evening for the DIA will be a combination of music, fashion and theater with a special guest ap- pearance of Mikhail Baryshnikov, who will in- troduce, Misha, his new fragrance for women. Myron Johnson, artistic director of the dance theater Ballet of the Dolls will choreograph the 50 model and dance production. Originally scheduled at a downtown Detroit hotel, the annual meeting was chang- ed to avoid traffic congestion from African National Con- gress leader Nelson Mandela's visit to Tiger Stadium. PAGEANT WINNER Gina Marie Golebiewski, age 4, is a state finalist in the Miss Michigan American Princess Pageant. If she wins, she will go on to the national pageant as Miss Michigan. Gina is the daughter of Robert and Cheri Golebiewski and the granddaughter of Nathan and Elaine Zeron of Southfield and Gertrude Zeron of Oak Park. Harold Platt had a surprise 70th birthday and was presented with a sefer Torah by his wife and children, Sherrill Platt, Dr. and Mrs. Murray Platt, Mr. and Mrs. Benjamin Jesselson, Dr. and Mrs. Benjamin Hoffman, Dr. and Mrs. Alan Platt and Mr. and Mrs. Robert Citron. His eldest grandson David Jesselson celebrated his bar mitzvah. "The festivities lasted a week and culminated with the Shabbat service," says Harold Platt. D Peter Max On Exhibit Danielle Peleg Gallery of West Bloomfield will host the work of Peter Max through August. Featured are pieces from his 70s pop series and recent silk screens. Max is an activist for world peace and global en- vironmental issues, and through art he is making his dreams come true. Max's work appears in more than 150 museums around the world and he has had 41 one- man shows. Some of Max's better known work include his of- ficial 1989 Grammy Awards Poster and his design and creation of the world's largest Rock-'n-Roll stage at Moscow's Lenin Stadium. Recently he was commission- ed to paint an official poster to commemorate the first man on the moon.
