Lois Leven- son, owner of Guys N' Gals in the Orchard Mall, and a member of the board of the West Bloomfield Chamber of Commerce, will chair the event and act as represent- ative for the retailers. Levenson is excited about the unified effort of the retailers. "Instead of the malls competing against each other, we will be work- ing together,"says Leven- son. All the major West Bloomfield Malls — Orchard Mall, Crosswinds, Simsbury, Boardwalk, Sugar Tree, West Bloomfield Plaza, Old Orchard Mall, Robin's Nest, Drake Summit, Wilkin's Corner — are participating. Even free standing stores, such as Dunham's, Corey Dinettes, English Gardens, Michigan National Bank, Bloomfield Charley's, One on One, Old Orchard Shell, Kameo Cleaners, Jack Cauley Chevrolet Gramaphone and Sherwood. Studio are on the Sidewalk Sale bandwagon. The 1990 sidewalk sale will feature banners in the shopping centers annoucing the event. The Zoning Board of Appeals approved the re- quest to hang banners across the road at the southern en- trance of West Bloomfield at Orchard Lake Rd. and 14 Mile Rd. and the northern entrance on Orchard Lake Rd. and Pontiac Trail. Detroit Edison will be hang- ing the banners. Merchants hope to use any surplus funds for advertising. Some of the Sidewalk Sale organizers include: Dorothy Friedl executive director of the West Bloomfield Chamber of Commerce; Bluma Siegal, a retail marketing director; Kathy Price, manager of the Or- chard Mall and Jeff Cauley of Jack Cauley Chevrolet. Many businesses in the city, including real estate offices, dental practices and in- surance companies, are ex- pressing interest in the sidewalk sale. "We have had wonderful cooperation with the city," says Levenson. "Our goal is to get the whole community involved. We want it to be a happening, not just a sidewalk sale. El
