imml SINGLE LIFE I REAL ESTATE UPDATE Ray A. Fox, Licensed Realtor WRONG PRICING LOGIC Social Singles Seek President QUESTION: Why do so many homeowners go wrong when they try to set a realistic selling price on their home? STAFF REPORT T he Social Singles group of the Jewish Community Center has no candidate for president for the coming year. The group was formed in 1988 to serve Detroit-area Jewish singles ages 40-60. Sharon Stein, who became the group's second president in last summer's elections, has said she will not seek a second term. Leanie Gunsberg, Center singles director, said an elec- tion meeting normally is held in either June or July, but the meeting has been delayed un- til she and Stein can meet to discuss the situation. In the meantime, singles ac- tivities open to all age groups will be scheduled, Gunsberg said. The Center also sponsors a 25-45 singles group and a single-parent group. ANSWER: Most people base their price tags on the only facts known to them: original price, cost of improvements, hoped- for profit and what they think similar homes are bringing. The original price, improvements, and hoped-for profit only deter- mine whether you gain or lose, but they have nothing to do with the right price to produce a sale. Prices of other homes? Most of the time you only hear of the asking price, not the selling price. Consult a local Realtor whose business it is to know how much property can and will bring. Please phone Ray A.
