Sylvia Serwin Named
Berman Award Winner
Sylvia Serwin will receive
the third annual Berman
Award for Outstanding Pro-
fessional Service. The award
will be presented Aug. 28 at
a dinner meeting of the
Jewish Welfare Federation
Board of Governors.
Serwin is the associate vice
president of Comprehensive
Aging Services, Inc., a sub-
sidiary of Jewish Home Ag-
ing Services, Inc. Serwin was
previously associate director
of the Jewish Home for Aged,
assisting in the opening and
administration of Borman
Hall, Prentis Manor and
Fleischman Residence.
She established all of JHA's
policies related to Medicare
and organized medical pro-
grams in conjunction with
Sinai Hospital.
Serwin is on the advisory
board of Community Home
Care, and was president of the
Michigan League for Nursing
from 1985 to 1987 and of the
Shapero School of Nursing
from 1983 to 1985.

created by Mandell and
Madeleine Berman to pro-
mote and reward extraor-

habilitation unit.

habilitation medicine.
Following brief remarks,
Steinberg toured the 30-bed
rehabilitation unit in a
wheelchair, demonstrating
the handicapped accessible
semi-private rooms.
