Guy Stern

Foundation Fellowships for
Distinguished Faculty Fel-
lows.
These fellowships were
established to recognize and
provide support for members
of the WSU faculty whose
continuing achievements and
activities in scholarship,
research, or artistic perfor-
mance continue to hold 'na-
tional distinction.
To continue these tasks,
generous awards are provided
by the Gershenson Family
Foundation.
The reason for the special
selection of Guy Stern from
among award recipients is in
recognition of his research in
the history of World War II
developments with emphasis
on the Holocaust. A survivor
of the Nazi terrors, he writes
and lectures extensively on
the subject.
Dr. Stern has important
roles in academic circles and
is often called upon to par-
ticipate in evaluations of ex-
periences under Nazism.
We keep advocating preser-
vation of historic records and
the need for emphasis in the
tracing of facts about the ter-
rors that engulf mankind.
Guy Stern has acquired a role
among the authorities on
tragic experiences. The need
to assign guilt where and
when it belongs necessitates
authorship like his.
Therefore Dr. Stern's selec-
tion for an important Ger-
shenson award is a choice pro-
perly applauded. 0
