junior youth groups, Frank
said.
Frank considers temple
youth involvement challeng-
ing, engaging and creative.
But it's much more than that,
he said.
"Part of the Jewish tradi-
tion is to be concerned about
all social justice,"he said. "We
care about the homeless and
we're involved in black and
white issues.
"Judaism embodies how
Jews respond to these issues

"I still believe that
kid are challenged
to be as good as
they can be by
living the Jewish
tradition of value
and usefulness."

as Americans. We work
beyond things that deal
specifically with us. We ex-
amine Jewish tradition to
make clear who we are as
human beings."
It's not all serious, Frank
said. Kids have fun meeting
other kids, working with
them and caring about form-
ing honest, sincere relation-
ships, he said.
The youth organizations
are open and accepting, he
said, and no one is being judg-
ed. Peer pressure doesn't ex-
ist, according to Frank.
"I believe strongly in bring-
ing up kids in good ways so
they will resist temptations,"
Frank said. "I can find no bet-
ter way of implementing my
beliefs than living the `do as
I do, not do as I say' max-
im." ❑
