R.G. Brown, of Georgia,
uses cast iron to create
garden thrones. His chair
designs are inspired by leaves
and are bold, stately forms.
Many of Brazeau's garden
sculptures also take the form
of chairs. Definitely more
sculptural than functional,
Brazeau uses furniture as in-
spiration for his forms. A
skilled metalsmith and a
graduate student at Cran-
brook, he manipulates steel
rods into lyrical forms.
The bronze sculptures of
Penchansky-Glasser include
dancers that are always in
motion yet precisely poised
and balanced.
In contrast to Penchansky-
Glasser's intimate, delicate
figures, Chatterley presents
the human form as
architecture.

Robinson's Work
At Robert Kidd
New hand-made paper
reliefs by Aviva Robinson will
be on exhibit June 9 through
July 7 at the Robert Kidd
Gallery in Birmingham. An
opening reception honoring
the artist will be held June 9,
4-7 p.m.
Robinson, a Bloomfield
Hills artist, is creating works
in a new medium. Her im-
agery continues to concern
itself with layered shafts of
light — crisp, clean and pure.
Robinson's current process
involves vacuum forming
paper fibers into a large-scale
dimensional format. She then
layers transparent watercolor
and acrylic washes over the
paper construction with the
result that her crisp-edged
colors merge with the rich
textures of the hand-made
paper.
