know their native foods and
preparations.
The breads are all cooked
on Natraj's premises . . . The
Naan bread I had was ,
deliciously crispy, as it should
be instead of the soft kind
served at some other Indian
restaurants.
from
come
People
everywhere for the food at
Peacock . . . and are discover-
ing that they don't have to
drive to Dearborn for the ex-
cellent Indian cuisine it offers
. . . With Natraj in the nor-
thwest suburbs, and except
for the decor, being an almost
exact duplicate of the Peacock
(some say Natraj is even bet-
ter), the closeness is a tasty
blessing at reasonable prices.
Natraj, Peacock North,
Peacock's Natraj . . . whatever
. . . this is food of India at its
best . . . the real thing . . . as
you like it . . . mild, medium
or spicy.
VISITING DELICA-
TESSENS around the coun-
try tends to make people even
more appreciative of those in
the metropolitan Detroit area
. . . The delis here are rated
nationally among the finest
. . . and are taken so much for
granted by localites who have
enjoyed extra fine delica-
tessens for many years.
The only way a comparison
can be made is by visiting
those in other parts of the
country . . . Only four major
cities can compare with
Detroit . . . New York, Los
Angeles, Chicago and
perhaps Philadelphia . . .
both in goodness and quality
numbers.
On our last visit to Florida,
the areas of Boynton Beach,
Lake Worth, Delray Beach,
West Palm Beach and Boca
Raton could boast of only one
which might possibly rank
with those in Detroit . . . 3
GGG's Gourmet Deli on
Atlantic Boulevard, corner of
Glades Road in Delray Beach.
Portions are large at 3
GGG's (omelettes made with
four eggs), it has its own
carry-out bakery, the rye
bread is most unusual and
delicious, home fries are not
frozen but sliced and cooked
on the premises, and the ser-
vice is most accommodating.
The Lake Worth Too Jays
Deli & Bakery (six locations)
makes its own bread and muf-
fins . . . but apparently
doesn't seek repeat business
. . . A lot of greenery in a fine
decor could not make up for
the poor service and poor
menu selections. ❑
