Fact is, more Americans
may die by the fork than by
any other weapon. That's
because so many of them
use it irresponsibly. Like
to fill up on high-fat, high-
cholesterol foods. Foods
that can load the blood with
cholesterol, which can build
up plaque in their arteries,
increasing their risk of
heart attacks and threaten-
ing their lives. So next time
you pick up a fork, remem-
ber to handle it as you
would any other weapon.
For self-defense, not
self-destruction.

LISTENING POST
hat hams! . . . But
gosh were they cute
as buttons! . . .
Naturally, little children
modeling Loretta Lorion
clothes as they pranced along
the runway stole the show
again.
This time a wonderful
group of 14 kiddies smiled,
turned, sucked their thumbs,
looked wide-eyed and even
shy to the music of "Baby
Face" . . . Utter delight by so
many moms, grandmas and
other attendees at Adat
Shalom Sisterhood's recent
donor luncheon and fashion
show.
Must have been over 300
gals enjoying the fine food
and service by caterer Jeffrey
Rosenberg with mom and dad
Sarah and Al Rosenberg .. .
plus the fast-paced production
by Leah Marks . . . another
winner for her files.
Something different always
at one of Leah's shows .. .
This time guys and gals open-
ed the festivities by dancing
to Israeli music as the au-
dience clapped in time, then
her models showing Begadim,
Creations by Pollack, Kosins,
Leotards, Etc. and Robert
Alexander jewelry . . . plus
Mariomax hair styling and
makeup by Donna Jagger of
Malibu Bodies.
Also the Israeli music in-
terspersed with soft disco
beats made for a lively after-
noon . . . And many of the 20
models got in a good workout
with their high stepping
aerobic dancing exercise .. .
You could tell they were hav-
ing fun.
Also Captain Rik Jagger of
WHYT-FM did the kind of
easy-going commentary that
put everyone in a happiness
frame of mind.
Always the question . . .
what will Leah Marks do for
an encore? . . . And always the
answer . . . again something
different.
BEST BET Of The
Weekend . . . eighth annual
black tie dinner fundraiser by
Michigan Cancer Foundation
. . . tomorrow night at Westin
Hotel . . . Tom Angott gets
MOT's distinguished service
award, comedian Jerry Lewis
puts on a special performance
for an expected 1,200 people
. . . and a great cause receives
a big boost toward more
research and charitable
assistance for cancer patients.
CONGRATS . . . to Sol
Dembs . . . on his 70th
birthday.
FRANKLIN PROFES-
SIONAL Center that stands
on Franklin Road off North-
western Highway near 12
Mile and Excalibur
Restaurant, is a memorial to
Betty Clarkson, who passed
on in 1986 . . . She was the
wife of Jim Clarkson, former
Southfield mayor, councilman
and judge, who, with partner
Bob Wolfson, built the
building where Betty's little
Goodie Shop used to stand .. .
It was originally called the
Custard Deli, but so many
people came in for sand-
wiches that the name change
was essential.
A plaque in Betty's memory
shines as people visit the
Clarkson & Wolfson building
that opened Nov. 1, 1989.
29 MEMBERS will be
given life memberships for
their 40 years of continuous
affiliation . . . 50-year pins go
Children, as usual,
stole this show.
to four more . . . and Harry
Wachs gets his for 60 years
and Judge Charles Rubiner
for 70 years.
It'll be this Sunday at a din-
ner by Perfection Mosaic
Lodge . . . Vladimirs on
Grand River, with 6 p.m. cash
bar and 7 p.m. dinner.
IT'S NOT just another
beauty salon . . . the motif
and friendliness make quite a
difference . . . This is Malibu
Bodies of Farmington Hills on
Orchard Lake Road between
12 and 13 Mile, owned by
Donna and Rik Jagger.
California-style
The
salon/spa with its massages,
hair styling, manicuring by
competent gals like Shirley
LaRose, is full of warmth and
color . . . with a lot of relaxed
smiles.
Rik is director of news,
sports and public affairs at
ABC's WHYT (96.3 FM) in
the Fisher Building.
