Store Owner

Ben Lutz, 84, of Southfield,
died May 12.
Mr. Lutz was the former
owner of Drome Furniture in
Lincoln Park, former owner of
Bowl-O-Drome on Dexter
Avenue for many years and
was its original builder and
owner. Mr. Lutz was also a
member of Temple Beth El.
He leaves his wife, Frances;
son and daughter-in-law, Dr.
Richard and Karen of West
Bloomfield; daughter and
son-in-law, Janice and Robert
Mann of Farmington Hills;
sister and brother-in-law,
Jean and Philip Soffa of Las
Vegas, Nev.; brother and
sister-in-law, Edward and
Alice of Bloomfield Hills;
three grandchildren.

Lillian Pearson,
Community Activist

of
Pearson,
Lillian
Southfield, died May 10.
Mrs. Pearson was a member
of B'nai David Sisterhood,
B'nai David Synagogue, the
Horodoker Society and the
Silverstein Family Club.
She leaves her sons and
daughter-in-law, Sheldon of
Los Angeles, Dr. Frederic and
Melvadean of University City,
Mo.; daughter and son-in-law,
Beverly and Robert Hacker of
Southfield; sisters, Mollie
Salkin of Los Angeles, Sylvia
Eisenberg of Southfield; five
grandchildren.

Celia Dzodin, 75,
Pianist

An early musical performer
on Detroit radio during the
1930s, Celia Plotnick Dzodin
frequently contributed her
musical talents to numerous
Jewish organizations in-
cluding Pioneer Women,
B'nai B'rith and ORT in
Detroit and Miami Beach.
She is survived by her hus-
band, Louis Dzodin of North
Miami Beach; daughter, Beth
of Birmingham; sons, Harvey
of New York City and Joel of
Pittsburgh; two grand-
children.
Interment in Florida.

Betty J. Weiss, 78,
B'nai B'rith Member

Betty J. Weiss, 78, of
[ir Southfield, died May 12.
She was past president of
the Detroit Chapter of B'nai
B'rith, active with the B'nai
B'rith Bowling League, active
with Meals on Wheels Pro-
gram of the National Council

of Jewish Women and a life
member of Hadassah.
Mrs. Weiss leaves her hus-
band, Alan; daughter, Dr.
Hedy Red Dexter of Califor-
nia; brothers and sister-in-
law, Joseph and Audrey Klein
of Detroit and Edward Klein
of Southfield; one
grandson.

C. H. Gottesman, 91,
Oldtimers Member

Clarence H. Gottesman, 91,
of Detroit, died May 13.
He was a member of Con-
gregation Shaarey Zedek,
Perfection Lodge 486 F&AM
and Hannah Schloss
Oldtimers.
Mr. Gottesman leaves his
wife Adelina; brothers and
sisters-in-law, Milton and
Sylvia of Birmingham,
Roland and Esther of
Southfield, Morton and Ruth
of Beverly Hills; two grand-
children; two great-grand-
daughters.

Joyce I. Jackson,
Social Worker

Joyce I. Jackson, 51, of Bir-
mingham, died May 12.
Mrs. Jackson was a teacher
with a master's degree in
social work. She received her
degree from the University of
Michigan in 1959, her
master's degree from Wayne
State University in 1975 and
had been with the Oak Park
Schools since 1973.
She leaves her husband, Dr.
Philip; sons, Jay, Bruce and
Paul; mother, Fannie Berman
of Farmington Hills; brother
and sister-in-law, Dr. Jack
and Barbara Berman of Los
Angeles.

Tel Aviv, May 3 (JTA) —
Bulgaria recently became
the fourth Eastern European
country to renew diplomatic
relations with Israel, broken
in 1967 following the Six-
Day War.
Bulgaria's restoration of
ties with Israel follows those
by Hungary, Czechoslovakia
and Poland. Only
Yugoslavia and Albania
among the Eastern bloc
nations have so far held out
against a resumption of rela-
tions.
The agreement was signed
in Sofia on May 3 by Foreign
Minister Moshe Arens and
his Bulgarian counterpart.
