6638 TELEGRAPH AND MAPLE
IN THE BLOOMFIELD PLAZA

were served and every diner
was given chocolate truffles
. . . Because of this, the open-
ing of their new restaurant
had its title.
Amidst the full-length
doors with their draped
valances, gaslight-styled fix-
tures, we enjoyed a delightful
lunch of the pizza appetizer,
so very thin and tasty, and a
dish of beautiful and tasty
sauteed perch.
Good to see Truffles back
again.
NEXT TIME at Sero's on
Northwestern Highway, have
personable and smiling
Margot Tindall wait on you
. . . let this efficient and
likeable gal tell you about her
marriage to hubby Randy .. .
when she made him a rice
dish . . . and used eight cups
of rice . . . A mess? . . . Margot
learned never to do it again!
IT SAYS Shalimar and
then Armando's (unless the
sign has been changed since
we were there) but don't let it
fool you . . . on Orchard Lake
Road between 13 and 14 Mile.
The food is mostly from In-
dia . . . with some Mexican
tossing in . . . and Armando is
no longer part of the
operation.

Baluja and Jeet Reen . . . Jeet
was the chef who made those
wonderful dishes at the
former Peacock Restaurant in
Dearborn. Contrary to so
much belief, Indian food is on-
ly as spicy as you want . . . It
can be prepared mild,
medium or hot . . . I'm not
from the spicy taste-budders,
so had a mild dinner . . . daal
soup, a bowl of lentil
goodness, chicken tikka,
boneless slices marinated in
yogurt garlic, a touch of
ginger and lemon juice, five
huge chunks of much
tenderness and taste brought
on a sizzling platter.
The naan baked on the
Shalimar premises is much
like pita or unleavened bread.
Our waiter, Marko Ivezaj, is
knowledgeable and sug-
gestive . . . both assets most
important in an ethnic
restaurant.
Shalimar will have a new
interior look . . . with even a
banquet room . . . The dining
area won't be coves or
separate dingy regions
anymore . . . It'll be light and
