MOTHER'S DAY SPECIAL

jokes: 'It's tough being a
teen-ager. Your parents
spent years teaching you
how to walk, how to talk.
And now I know how to
walk, and I know how to
talk, and they tell me to sit
down and shut up.' "
Those jokes worked, Price
said, because it was a novel-
ty to see a kid doing comedy
with confidence.
"I owe a lot of credit to the
Too Short for Prime Time
Players, a show I did at the
Roxy in New York," he said.
Price and an ensemble of
young actor/comedians per-
formed their version of a
kids' "Saturday Night Live"
for four years.
During those years Price
appeared on several TV
shows, including "Archie
Bunker's Place" and "One
Day at a Time."
His big break came when
he was asked to play a small
role in an episode of "Family
Ties."
"Originally, I wasn't
supposed to be a regular part
of the show," he said. But
Price and the show were a
big success. "It was an amaz-
ing experience."
Price, who has appeared on
the silver screen in The Zoo
Gang, Trick or Treat and
The Rescue, said he has
some exciting projects bubbl-
ing right now.
"I'm working on a motion
picture that is very issue-
oriented. It takes place in
1968 at Boston University
during the Viet Nam War."
Another project Price is try-
ing to complete is a TV show
for young people that deals
with controversial issues,
"Sort of like a 'Donahue' for
teen-agers with some young
celebrity guests talking
about the issues," he said.
"I know it's different from
today's popular kids' TV
shows like 'Teen-age Mutant
Ninja Turtles,' but we're liv-
ing in the '90s, and we've got
to do something different be-
cause we're dealing with the
future of America."
Price's future as a come-
dian looks promising. Next
August, he will be a feature
performer at the Montreal
Comedy Festival.
"I'm growing as a stand-up
comedian. I'm getting bigger
gigs all the time. And I'm
balancing that with staying
in Hollywood where I can
really get my teeth into
some auditions as well as the
projects I'm trying to de-
velop.
"I want to continue on in
that direction because an
actor could go crazy in
Hollywood just waiting for
the next audition. That's
why I'm so lucky. "D
