Operation Exodus has an-
nounced a leadership team
for Detroit's campaign for
the rescue and resettlement
of Soviet Jews. The commit-
tee includes 1991 Allied
Jewish Campaign Chairmen
Lawrence Jackier and Joseph
Orley.
Jackier was Project
Renewal chairman and a
chairman of the Campaign's
$10,000 Committee. A na-
tional vice president of the
United Jewish Appeal and
former chairman of its Young
Leadership Cabinet, he has
been active in efforts on
behalf of Soviet Jewry.
Orley was general chair-
man of the 1990 Allied
Jewish Campaign, chaired
the Campaign's Industrial
and Automotive Division and
is a former pre-Campaign
vice chairman.
Norman Pappas, Marvin
Goldman, Joel Gershenson,
Peter Alter, Neil Satovsky,
Robert Slatkin and Benjamin
will chair major gifts.
Conducting the effort to in-
volve various Federation
agencies in Operation Exodus
are Janet Levine, Diane J.
Klein and Dr. Darryl

paigns, heads the Women's
Division campaign for Opera-
tion Exodus.
Joining in the women's

JWF Hosts
Conference

The Jewish Welfare Federa-
tion's third annual Profes-
sional Management Con-
ference for Jewish communal
professionals will take place
8:30 a.m. May 18 at Temple
Israel.
The conference will focus on
the Detroit Jewish population
study and its impact on
future Jewish communal
planning. Among issues to be
discussed are: religious t in-
stitutional life, fund raising,
delivery of Jewish communal
services, membership reten-
tion and expansion, and ser-
vices for new Americans.
The speaker will be Dr.
Steven Cohen, professor of
sociology at Queens College,
New York, and demographer
of Detroit's Jewish population
study.

Population Study
Will Be Discussed

The Men's Club of Beth
Abraham Hillel Moses will
host the first community-
wide open discussion of the
recently released Detroit
Jewish Population Study 10
a.m. May 20.
The Jewish Welfare Federa-
tion will present the
preliminary findings. A ques-
tion and answer session will
follow.
