Cecil and Nancy Raitt of
Farmington Hills are pleased

of their daughter, Karen Gail
Raitt, to Jeffrey David
Modell, son of the late
Richard and Sola Modell,
grandson of Miriam Ham-
burger of Birmingham.
Karen is a law student at
the University of Michigan
where she also received a
in
degree
bachelor's
economics. She will be
employed at the law firm of
Dickinson, Wright, Moon,
Van Dusen & Freeman.
Jeffrey holds a bachelor's
degree in accounting and a
law degree from the Univer-
sity of Michigan. He is an in-
vestor and an attorney.
An August wedding is
planned.
I EDUCATION I
Aish HaTorah/Aleynu
Plans Crash Courses
Aish HaTorah/Aleynu in
conjunction with the National
Jewish Outregh Program,
will offer two crash courses —
Hebrew Level II and basic
Judaism.
The Hebrew Crash Course
Level II is for people with a
basic level of Hebrew reading.
There is a materials fee. The
first class is May 14 in Young
Israel of Southfield and Con-
gregation Ohel Moed of
Shomrey Emunah of West
Bloomfield.
The Crash Course in Basic
Judaism will deal with God,
prayer, the Sabbath, Jewish
observance and sexuality.
There is no charge. It will
begin May 16 in the Aleynu

Aish Halbrah has a weekly
Lunch and Learn in the
Jewish Welfare Federation on
. Wednesdays at 12:30 p.m.
The class studies the six
chapters of Ethics of _ the
Fathers, one of the tracteates
of the Talmud. It is taught by
Rabbi Alon rIblwin, Executive
Director of Aish HaTorah. A
kosher lunch is available.
There is no charge.
Chabad To Offer
Brooklyn Weekend
Bais Chabad Torah Center
plans a Shabbaton in the
Crown Heights section of
Brooklyn, the center of the
Chabad Lubavitch move-
ment, May 25-27.
The Shabbaton will feature
lectures on "The Nature of
Goodness." It includes a
meeting with the Lubavit-
cher Rebbe. Guests may
spend the Shabbaton in
neighborhood homes or
