"The other hung in my dad's office."
The owners are particularly pleased
with the new look in the living room.
Once dark and drab, it is now bright
and airy. For a lighter effect, the
designers stripped the windows of the
heavy wool drapes and changed the
creme walls to stark white. The black
carpet was replaced with natural col-
ored sisal.
The existsing floral khaki and white
linen fabric on the sofa and wing chair
was used to recover two club chairs.
For a touch of drama, black and white

Pewabic tile lies in front of the fireplace.
Over the fireplace, which is framed by
bookshelves, hangs an iron and wood
sconce. A collection of brass

watch frame on the side table holds
her grandmother's gold watch.
In magnificent ornate gold frames
on the living room walls are oil portraits
of the owners' two children as
youngsters, a pastoral scene, and two
lovely paintings of women.
The circular stairway leads to the
three bedrooms. The upstairs, with its
narrow pullman-type hallway, is
covered in a beige Berber wool carpet.
While the master bedroom has not yet
been redone, the sitting room adjacent
to the guest room is truly a delight.
