or," the owner states. "It is bright and
happy and when we walk in after the
winter we feel great."
They also changed the room's win-
dow into a door that now leads out to
the brick patio that circles the back of
the house.
Many of the owners' possessions
belonged to their families. "There is a
lot of my husband's grandmother in
this house," the owner says. Her hus-
band adds, "When she died we went
to Vermont and brought back many of
her things."
Standing majestically to the side of
the room is his grandmother's
rosewood piano. A crystal chandelier
hangs above the white skirted dining
table. The dining chairs are covered in
a zebra skin fabric, while a zebra skin
adds flair and interest to the floor.
Much of the owner's art reflects her
appreciation for women as subjects.

artist Martha McCullough. Below the

Reflecting the owner's passion for
gardening, in the summer the house
is filled with tulips and impatiens. "We
wanted to let the outside in and not
have anything compete with nature,"
Vesely says of the starkness of the kit-
chen. "The colors and theme from the
garden are repeated throughout the
house."
The new wall of windows in the sun
room provides a breathtaking
panoramic view of Stoney Creek. The
rural-like setting offers nature at its best.
"It is our favorite room," the owner
states. "I adore nature. We have a
phenomenal amount of birds and we
have a herd of deer in the yard."
