The plays will be read during the first four Wednesdays and Thursdays in May at 8 p.m. Staged readings are ac- complished without benefit of costume and with a minimal use of props. Professional ac- tors, without makeup, under professional direction, read from scripts. Murder in the Junkyard, a play by Jack Labeznik, ex- plores the concepts of justice and mortality. NAIM, a play by A.B. Yehoshua, examines the cultural differences defeating adolescent in- nocence. The Soulful Scream of a Native Son, by Ned Eisenberg, is a sensitive play about a Holocaust survivor and his son's moral conflicts during the civil rights strug- gles of the 60s. Street of Brass; Hearts of Gold is author Paul Hect's play about a Jewish family's odyssey through American society from the Depression ridden 30s through the prosperity of JFK. Wednesday readings take place at the Jewish Com- munity Center's Maple- Drake building. Thursday readings are at the Jewish Community Center's Jimmy Prentis Morris building. There is a charge.
