Adat Shalom Hosts
A Cantorial Concert

Adat Shalom Synagogue
will present a concert of can-
torial, Yiddish and operatic
music 8 p.m. May 17. The pro-
gram will feature Cantors
Larry Vieder, Isaac Good-
friend and Alberto Mizrahi.
The evening is sponsored by
the Knopper Family in
memory of Sonia L. Knopper
and is open to the communi-
ty at no charge.
Cantor Vieder came to Adat
Shalom as associate cantor in
1960 and has been the
synagogue cantor since 1974.
He is a member of the Can-
tors Assembly and is an
elected member of the
Assembly executive board.
Cantor Goodfriend, of

Ahavath Achim Synagogue in
Atlanta, is known for his ef-
forts related to the Holocaust.
He was born into a Chassidic
family in the 1920s and is a
survivor of the Nazi concen-
tration camps.
Cantor Mizrahi is a Greek-
born tenor who has toured
throughout the world and is
serving as cantor of the Park
Synagogue in Cleveland
Heights.
The cantors will be accom-
panied by Cantor Sholom
Kalib, member of the Cantors
Assembly, composer and pro-
fessor of music at Eastern
Michigan University.
