Hollywood Star Paulette Goddard Actress Paulette Goddard, born Marian Levee in Great Neck, N.Y., died April 23 at her Swiss resort. She was 78. Ms. Goddard, who was mar- ried several times to Charlie Chaplin, Burgess Meredith and Erich Maria Remarque — was a popular actress of the 1930s, 40s and 50s. She was known for her glamorous lifestyle. There are no immediate survivors. Dr. Marvin Ellender, Dearborn Dentist Dr. Marvin Eilender, 61, a dentist of West Bloomfield, died April 22. Dr. Eilender was a dentist in Dearborn Heights who graduated from the Universi- ty of Detroit School of Den- tistry. He was a member of the American Dental Association, secretary of the National Academy of Oral Medicine, board member, former treasurer and former President of Michigan Chapter of American Academy of Oral Medicine, a member of the Alpha Omega Dental Fraternity, life member of Elks, a member of the Jewish War Veterans and a staff dentist at Sinai Hospital. Dr. Eilender leaves his wife, Sylvia; children, Dr. Lawrence and Amy of West Bloomfield, Dr. Genise and Nathan Kerner of Orchard Lake, Dr. David of Salt Lake City, Utah; sisters, Edith of Boulder, Colo., Janet of West Bloomfield; two grand- daughters. Helen Bishop, 89, Community Activist Helen S. Bishop, 89, of Southfield, died April 24. Mrs. Bishop was past presi- dent of Northwest Child Rescue Women and one of the original members of Adat Shalom Synagogue. She leaves daughter and son-in-law, Madelyn and Richard Liss of Lathrup Village; son and daughter-in- law, Mel and Marilyn of Houston, Texas; sister and brother-in-law, Lillian and Larry Hennis of Benton Har- bor; six grandchildren and one great-grandson. Henry Edelman, Company President Henry Edelman, owner and president of Optical Of Bloomfield Hills, died April 16. Born in Missouri and rais- ed in New York, he moved to the metropolitan area in 1940. He was past president of B'nai B'rith Men's Council and past president of the Maurice Zieger Lodge. Mr. Edelman is survived by his wife, Teresa; son and daughter-in-law, Dr. Kenneth Alan and Rochelle of Bloom- field Hills; four grand- children. Beatrice Himelhoch, Active In Hadassah Beatrice Himelhoch, 88, of Southfield, died April 20. She was a member of Hadassah, ORT, and an avid bridge player.
