ed design (CAD) technology.
The classes were designed for
Soviet immigrants with
engineering and technical
training. Their ability to ob-
tain jobs in related fields in
the United States depends on
their ability to use computer
technology and up-to-date
engineering concepts and
terminology.
Victoria Vinogradov, who
arrived in the United States
in November, attended the
classes with her husband,
Alexander.
"Although I still have a
long way to go, I can now say
that at least I'm not afraid of
the computer," she said. "Now
that we've developed the com-
puter vocabulary and learned
the fundamentals of design-
ing on the computer, we have
a good foundation."
The program was financed
through the Hebrew Free
Loan Association (interest-
free loans were made to in-
dividual students) and a
grant from the Hebrew
Technical Institute. In-
dividual students were spon-
sored by the Golda G. Krolik
Philanthropic Fund.
Courses were taught in
English by Professor Victor
Korolov, a Russian-speaking
WSU faculty member.
