Remembrance Day
Program April 29
The Israel Program Center,
in cooperation with the
Jewish Welfare Federation,
will sponsor the commemora-
tion Yom HaZikaron — The
Day of Remembrance for
Israel's fallen soldiers — in a
community-wide ceremony at
6 p.m. April 29 at Congrega-
tion B'nai Moshe.
Forty-two Jewish organiza-
tions, each representing one
year of Israel statehood, will
participate in a presentation
of colors.
The Hillel Day School choir
will sing and students from
Akiva Hebrew Day School,
the Community Jewish High
School and Young Judaea also
will participate.
Co-sponsoring organiza-
tions include the Council of
Jewish Educators and the
Israel Independence Day
Committee.
Rabbis' Dinner
To Be May 22
The Council of Orthodox
Rabbis has scheduled its an-
nual dinner on May 22 at the
Westin Holtel. Rabbi Leizer
Levin, council president, and
Paul Borman, dinner chair-
man, said the event will
mark the 60th year of the
council.
The organization super-
vises kashrut, provides
counseling services and a
rabbinical court, and is help-
ing in the resettlement of
Soviet immigrants. The an-
nual dinner helps fund these
services.

`Jewish Creativity'
Series Planned
"The Center for Jewish
Creativity and Exploration"
at the Jewish Community
Center's Maple-Drake build-
ing will present Ruth M.
Volk, art historian, and Suzie
Russek-Osherov, Israel poet,
historian and artist, in a four
week series beginning April
25 and 26.
Volk, formerly arts and
culture radio reporter for Kol
Yisrael, is a graduate of
Hebrew University in
Jerusalem. She traveled ex-
tensively throughout Israel
interviewing leading artists
and covering all major exhibi-
tions and symposiums. Her
topic for this series is
"Milestones in Israeli Art."
This is a lecture/slide presen-
tation tracing the develop-
ment of artistic expression in
Israel since the beginning of
this century to the present.
Included in this series will be
reactions of artists to political
and historical events. A com-
parison between Israeli and
International art will be
illustrated.
Russek-Osherov immi-
grated to Israel in 1950 from
her native Poland. She
studied at the Bezal'el Art
Academy in Jerusalem and at
Tel Aviv University where
she majored in social-
psychology. As a multi-
talented artist, poet and
historian she has lectured all
over the world.

JWV Women
Hold Luncheon
The Department of Michi-
gan Ladies Auxiliary of the
Jewish War Veterans will
hold their yearly Goodwill
Luncheon at noon April 21 at
the Jewish War Veterans
Memorial Home. It is part of
the brotherhood program.

Women's Division of the
Greater Detroit Round Table
of Christians and Jews. For

To House Vets
Congregation Beth Achim
will honor members who have
served in the Armed Forces
by inscribing their names 'on
a plaque to be mounted in the
synagogue.

Gives Review
Rabbi Sherwin Wine of the
Birmingham Temple will pre-
sent the second of three
reviews on the theme: Pro-
vocative People at 8:30 p.m.
April 16. He will review
Rasputin by Joseph T.
Fuhrmann.

Students Plan
Memorial Service
Temple Emanu-El will
observe Yom HaShoah with a
program by the high school
youth group, TEMTY, at
10:30 a.m. April 22 at the
temple. This memorial
ceremony for those. who
perished in the Holocaust is
open to the public.
