Electronic Link
Set For Schools
Jerusalem (JTA) — A
unique research project will
allow an electronic linkup to
connect hundreds of Jewish
educational and social
organizations worldwide.
The computerized Holo-
caust encyclopedia at the
New York Holocaust Muse-
um; Geshernet, a system
connecting Israeli and
American schools; and the
Well, a network which has a
Jewish electronic discussion,
will be able to connect to a
single network.
The project was launched
by the Jerusalem Center for
Public Affairs, an indepen-
dent think tank concerned
with policy research and ed-
ucation. The center will
issue a report and a five-year
implementation plan.
The project will enable any
Jewish organization to be
connected to a single, coor-
dinated database network.
Data will thus be easily ac-
cessible by any Jewish group
or institute. The inter-
change will prevent duplica-
tion of research.
The long-range plan will
include an appraisal of
communications services in
the Jewish world and a plan
to provide them to Jewish
communities throughout the
world.
