Passover has become a
popular time for Israelis to
take their vacations in the
country's resort hotels. For
tourists, Passover in Israel is
special, too. The newly ex-
panded Ramada Renaissance,
in Jerusalem, is very popular
during this holiday. A smaller
hotel, the nearby Sonesta, of-
fers an intimate setting and
pleasant ambiance for
Passover. Jerusalem's Regen-
cy Hyatt has a well-priced op-
tion for Passover, which in-
cludes only bed and break-
fast, giving guests the
freedom to take some of their
meals in other locations dur-

To Israel Up

New York (JTA) —
Tourism to Israel from the
United States and Canada
continued to increase in
1989, rising 8 percent over
the 1988 total.
A total of 1.42 million
tourists visited Israel in
1989 —259,000 from North
America, according to the
National Committee FOr
Tourism To Israel.
The Israel Ministry of
Tourism will mount a $3
million advertising cam-
paign highlighting 1990 as
"The Year of the Bible," and
El Al will be offering a
number of reduced rate
packages.
