The illusionary works of Hungarian artist Victor Vasarely will be featured in an exhibition appearing at Park West Gallery in Southfield April 6-27. Considered by scholars to be the founder of the post World War II Op Art Movement, Vasarely created works filled with ambiguities, and has been a major influence on modern art. Op Art repre- sents an alliance between abstract painting and sculptural traditions with contemporary techniques, novel materials and a more dynamic psychological per- ception. Vasarely's distortion of geometric shapes, and masterful use of color, creates a sense of motion in his work. Route 10 Slates Show The Route 10 Gallery in Farmington Hills celebrates its new space and Michigan Glass Month with the open- ing of a show featuring works by fused glass artist Stephen Palmer and fused glass and raku artist Win Blazier. An artists' reception will be held 8 p.m. April 7. The show runs through April. Palmer's contemporary pieces are shown in a profu- sion of colorful imagery designed to delight the viewer. Blazier's raku fired pottery with fused glass in vessel and wall pieces captures the ar- tist's spiritual reference in gracefully primitive forms. Ariana Gallery Slates Exhibit Ariana Gallery in Birm- ingham will host the latest celebration of the art of glass through April 30. This year, the gallery offers an array of techniques, styles and forms by 40 of American and Canadian glass artists.
