Students Win
History Quiz
Over 100 people attended
the awards ceremony of the
Walter and Lea Field Jewish
History Quiz at Congregation
Shaarey Zedek. Four hundred
students from 10 schools took
part in the competition
among sixth graders with 21
cash prizes awarded. Each
student who entered also
received a copy of Walter
Field's book A People's Epic.
The winners of the quiz,
held under the auspices of the
Jewish Historical Society, in-
cluded: First Prize — Lori
Baron, Mathew Daniels,
Jaime Garelik, Michael Fien-
man, Josh Herman, Jeremie
Kass, Amy Marks, Noah
Monroe, Eric Slaim, David
Salama and Jaffna Wolok.
Second Prize — Tracye

Fresh Air
Family Weekend
April 27 is the cutoff date
for Fresh Air Society's spring
family weekend. The
weekend will take place May
11-13 at the Butzel Con-
ference Center in Ortonville.
Activities will include
horseback riding, boating,
fishing, songs around the
campfire and a Shabbat_
celebration for the whole
family.
Nukhim Koyfman, a Jewish
newcomer from the Soviet
Union, will lead songs in
Hebrew and Yiddish and per-
form musical medleys from
Mozart to Joplin.
