Jewish Community Centers
North American Maccabi
Youth Games - August 19 - 26
stitute, will have its seder
April 8 in Shiffman Hall.
As part of its special Jewish
education program for
children of Russian im-
migrants, the Jewish Voca-
tional Service is offering a
unit on Passover. The pro-
gram is co-sponsored with the
Agency for Jewish Education
and Fresh Air Society.
Clients in the JVS' Project
Outreach will participate in a
special seder at a Grand
Boulevard foster care site.
Clients from nearby nursing
care facilities also will par-
ticipate. Cooking for Passover
will be taught to participants
in the JVS' Activities of Dai-
ly Living Program.
Sinai Hospital of Detroit
will provide seder plates and
Haggadot for patients on the
first two nights of Passover.
Kosher-for-Passover meals
will be available to all Jewish
patients throughout the
holiday.
Project Chametz, the
Jewish Community Council's
program to collect and
distribute non-perishable
foods to area soup kitchens
and pantries, will take place
April 2-6 at the Maple-Drake
Jewish Center, Jimmy Pren-
tis Morris Jewish Center and
at the main UHS building.
Collection boxes were
decorated by children in the
UHS nursery. Hillel Day
School will conduct its own
collection at the school. The
project has been endorsed by
the Council of Orthodox Rab-
bis and the Michigan Board of
Rabbis.
The Council has co-
sponsored with Temple
Emanu-El a seder workshop
for Christian clergy at the
temple. In addition, it has
printed supplemental Hag-
gadah readings about Soviet
Jewry, Ethiopian Jewry, the
Holocaust and hunger and
homelessness. The booklets
are free and available in the
lobby of the main UHS
building.
The Hebrew Free Loan
Association provides cash
assistance for a number of
needs, during Passover and
throughout the year.
The Jewish Information
Service is taking questions
about the holidays and refer-
ring out-of-towners to local
sedarim in which they can
participate. For information,
call the JIS, 967-HELP.
"Primarily Passover," a con-
cert held under the J.E.F.F.
auspices, will take place April
1 at Temple Emanu-El.
