The Agency for Jewish Education will have a Passover seder for Russian teenagers April 8 at the United Hebrew Schools building. Rabbi Bruce Aft, director of the Midrasha- College of Jewish Studies and principal of the Community Jewish High School, will con- duct the seder. On April 1, the teens will bake matzah at the matzah factory at the Maple- Drake Jewish Community Center. Children in the UHS elementary schools will con- duct model sedarim. At the Adat Shalom Synagogue branch, the kindergarten and first grade students will have their seder April 1. Second through seventh graders will have sedarim April 3 and 4. The Troy and B'nai Israel of West Bloomfield branches will have sedarim April 1 at their respective schools. Kindergarteners and first graders at the Beth Achim branch will participate in a seder April 1, while the rest of the students have their seder March 29. As part of their observance, children in the UHS nursery as well as four second grade classes from the Adat Shalom branch will visit the matzah factory of the Maple-Drake Jewish Center. The Jewish Family Service and Resettlement Service are compiling names of clients to receive assistance from the Moeis Chitim (Passover fund for the needy), which supplies matzot, wine and financial aid. The holiday food distribu- tion will take place at Con- gregation Beth Tefilo Emanuel Tikvah April 1, 2 and 3. Through a grant from the Federal Emergency Manage- ment Agency (FEMA), the JFS is making funds available for clients to buy food for the holiday. Each Jewish Federation Apartments site has schedul- ed its own seder. On April 9, Harold and Shirley Rosen- berg, members of Temple Kol Ami, will conduct the seder at the Harriett and Ben Teitel Federation Apartments in Oak Park. Walter Rosenblum and his son, Eric, will conduct the seder April 9 at the Pren- tis Towers. The Hechtman Federation Apartments will have sedarim April 9 and 10, conducted by Harold Black. Senior adults from the com- munity and their families are invited to each of the sedarim at a charge. For reservations, call the respective building of- fices. Throughout the holiday, kosher-for-Passover meals will be served at each site. A traditional third seder will be conducted by Cantor Sidney Resnick, accompanied by Lillian Zellman, at the Jimmy Prentis Morris building of the Jewish Com- munity Center on April 12. Children who attend the Child Development Center at the Maple-Drake Jewish Center and their families will have a seder 2:30 p.m. April 4 in Shiffman Hall at the Center. The Discovery Room, also located at the Center, will have a special display about the Festival of Freedom. The matzah factory, co- sponsored by the Center and Congregation Bais Chabad of Farmington Hills and West Bloomfield, will operate March 25-April 1 at the Maple-Drake Center. Hours are March 25 and April 1, 9:30 a.m.-4 p.m.; and 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. March 26-31. In- dividuals and classes are in- vited to have a hands-on ex- perience in authentic matzah baking. The Maple-Drake Center will host a model seder for in- dividuals with special needs at noon April 12, conducted by Rabbi and Mrs. Solomon H. Gruskin.
