Something
Continued from preceding page
then, Marshall has won
league titles in 1985 and
1988. In the latter year, Mar-
shall was unbeaten in the
Twin Valley Conference,
posting a 24-2 overall record
and being a state quarter-
finalist. Three girls from that
team are playing in college.
With eight players back on
this season's team, Stulberg
feels that Marshall will have
a better season in 1990.
"The thing I enjoy most is
the daily interaction with the
girls," he says. "I think it's
getting to know well, and
work with, great individuals
— high school students who
are working hard at
something that has a positive
end result.
Stulberg and his wife, Nan-
cy, have two daughters, Anne,
8, and Jennifer, 6. "The girls
are pretty good swimmers
and skaters," he says, but he's
not sure about basketball.
"I'd like to get a couple of
guards out of them," he says,
"but it's too early to tell."
Stulberg doesn't see
coaching the boys' varsity as
a promotion. "I don't think I'd
enjoy that as much," he says.
"There's still sort of a
freshness in the girls' game.
Compared to the boys', it's in
its infancy. There's still an en-
thusiasm and willingness to
learn and listen that you
don't always have in the boys'
game.
"I feel I have more of an im-
pact on the girls' game right
now than I would at the boys'
level."
